Consecration and Filling Options

An important part of a stupa is its consecration and filling. Traditionally, stupas are filled with relics, mantras, and other precious and sacred objects. At the core of the entire stupa is the so-called life tree, which gives the stupa its vital spiritual energy. It symbolizes the central energy channel of enlightened beings and connects the stupa with heaven and earth.

Filling instructions

All our stupas are carefully made so that they can be opened, filled, and securely closed. The inner space of the stupa allows for the placement of the life tree, as well as all necessary mantras, blessed objects, or relics. After filling the stupa, simply apply adhesive to the inner side of the closure, seal it, and secure it using the supplied screws. Once the adhesive has fully cured, the stupa can no longer be opened.

In traditional practice, the filling of a stupa is carried out in cooperation with a lama or a qualified teacher of the respective Buddhist tradition, usually according to the practitioner’s lineage.

If you are unsure where to have your stupa filled and blessed, we can recommend Buddhist centers where arrangements for consecration can be made.
